The center was established in June, 2013 as part of the programs of Alfaoz Foundation.
Americans have long enjoyed the services of non-Muslim centers like the Lutheran University Center in the city of Pittsburgh and other cities, plus other centers, for young Jewish and Christian groups. For instance, YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) which was founded in June 1844 by George Williams, which now has thousands of centers across the continental U.S.A and other countries serves thousands of people in many states across the United States.
Thus, ever increasing number of the Muslims today in the United States, especially, the second generation (children of immigrants) and for some African Americans, third generation Muslims necessitates the need for the like of those non Muslim organization centers to fill the gap in providing services to the vast majority of Muslims children who do not attend Islamic Schools or religious schools, by way of Day Care, After School Program, Career Centers, gymnasium, etc.
Among those aforementioned Muslims are parents who are new converts to Islam or first generation Muslims who want and need an Islamic environment for their children after school hours, either in form of Day Care or After School Programs and others. Perhaps most Muslims would agree that Sunday Schools (originally exclusive to Churches) or Weekend Schools, which many Islamic Centers and Masaajid are establishing across North America, no longer capable to provide these on-going need of adequate services to the growing number of Muslim children, university students, and other international students, whose main purpose of presence in the United States is only to attend college or graduate schools.
This is why we have established Islamic University Center, starting in Pittsburgh, to spread throughout North America in shaa Allah Ta'aala in the next ten to twenty years.
We ask Allah subhaanahu wata'aala to give us success in our efforts, Ameen.
